What Test Results Will Tell You
Every year, numerous pets are taken to veterinarians to investigate persistent itchiness, digestive issues, or behavioral problems that may be associated with allergies, often leading to months or even years of undetected and untreated issues causing stress and concern for both you and your dog.
By utilizing the Dog Allergy Test, you can uncover potential causes for your dog’s problems, whether they are behavioral or biological, and proactively avoid allergens to eliminate your pet’s exposure.
Once the test is completed, you will receive a detailed report on your pet’s reactions to 125 common allergens, including those present in food, substances like shampoos, and outdoor environments such as plants, enabling you to make informed decisions for your pet’s well-being.
How the Dog Allergy Test Works
Accessing accurate information about your dog’s potential sensitivities empowers you to take appropriate measures, such as avoiding specific substances. For example, if the test reveals a reaction to a particular dog food ingredient, you can ensure their future diet is free from that substance.
Using our services is simple: we provide a kit with instructions for collecting a saliva sample from your dog, which you send back to us for testing. By measuring your dog’s sensitivities to 125 common substances through the analysis of immune system proteins, we offer the most accurate method available.
You will receive a detailed report identifying your dog’s potential allergies, allowing you to take necessary actions. If needed, consult your veterinarian to determine the best course of action, or you can independently eliminate potential allergens from their diet or environment.
As part of our service, we provide a convenient list of products and food items that have shown no reaction, ensuring you have a handy guide for creating an allergen-free environment for your pet.
Testing your dog is affordable, fast, and hassle-free, with results typically delivered within 4 weeks. Show your pet that you prioritize their well-being by getting them tested today.
Will food and medication affect the results?
To ensure accurate test results, it is important that the tested dog refrains from eating anything prior to sample collection, preferably in the morning before feeding. If that is not feasible, it is recommended to allow a significant time gap between meals before collecting the sample.
In addition to dietary considerations, certain medications, including antihistamines, steroids, and immune-suppressing drugs like Apoquel, Benadryl, Cytopoint, and Prednisone/Prednisolone, can impact the test results. Therefore, it is advised that the dog avoids taking antihistamines, anti-itch and anti-inflammatory medications, or steroid drugs for 1-2 weeks before the sample collection.
It’s important to note that antibiotics, such as Clavaseptin, do not affect the test results.
How Old Should My Dog Be Before I Test?
Although the test can detect sensitivities at any age, it is important to note that a puppy’s sensitivities can evolve rapidly during their first six months of life, and the allergies they have during this period may differ as they mature. Therefore, it is advisable to wait until dogs are over six months of age to identify specific allergens that may impact them as they continue to develop.
Limitations of the Dog Allergy Test
Dog Allergy Testing focuses on identifying sensitivities in your pet rather than immediate and severe allergies, indicating a delayed immune response to the tested allergens.
The purpose of this test is to provide insights into your dog’s sensitivities, allowing you to understand what they may not tolerate well. Discussing the results with your veterinarian is recommended to explore options such as dietary adjustments, eliminating specific foods or medications.
Please note that this test does not provide medical advice, and if your dog is displaying symptoms, it is advisable to consult a professional for appropriate guidance. Our goal is to help your pet on their journey towards improved well-being.
