How to Collect Dog DNA Samples

When conducting the Dog Paternity Test without Mother, DNA samples are collected using cheek swabs, which is a painless process suitable for dogs of any age, including newborn or nursing puppies. In the case of nursing puppies, it is recommended to separate them from the nursing female for about an hour prior to sample collection to avoid milk contamination.

To ensure accurate results, it is crucial that the dogs being tested refrain from eating or drinking for an hour before the swab collection and avoid contact with toys or bones used by other dogs to prevent cross-contamination.

To collect the DNA sample, securely hold your dog’s head in place and utilize the provided sterile mouth swabs. The kit includes comprehensive instructions and registration forms that need to be completed before sending the swabs back to us for testing.

Once your DNA samples are received at our laborator, the results of the DNA test will be emailed to you within 22 working days.
